3. Driving question:

Your classmates are planning a seven-day trip when school ends this year to celebrate the wonderful EBAU results. However, you need to raise money to afford it. Therefore, you decide to organize an obstacle race.

But, how are obstacle races organized? What steps should be followed?

4. Cooperative techniques:

In order to involve the whole class into the same project, I’ve decided to use the jigsaw technique. Therefore, I will divide the class into five dependant groups which will research one part of the project:

a. The first group is in charge of investigating different types of obstacle races and present them to the class. After that, the whole class will agree on the type of race that will be organized.

b. The second group comes in and they will select a variety of activities and exercises to get through. After the presentation, the whole class will decide on the order of these activities.

c. The third group’s task is to look for a suitable location, a date and the cost of the materials needed. Taking all of this into account, the whole class will agree on a possible entry fee.

d. The fourth and fifth group will now work collaborately into create an effective training programme to help anyone willing to participate. One group will focus on a workout routine to work on strength, endurance and speed and the other on designing a meal plan to maintain healthy eating habits.

This project will last for five weeks, as one group cannot start working on their part until the previous one has presented their own. The final product will be a brochure promoting the race with all the information for potential participants.
