Topic: who am I? (female artists who deserve recognition)

Size of class: 20 students

Description:

A Collaborative work involving the subject of English as a foreign language, history, art, language and literature,… designed for a 4th CSE class in secondary school in Spain. The age of the students is between 15 and 16 years old. Their English level is good.

This theme is relevant for the International Women´s day, celebrated on 8th March, and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November), but you can do it at any time during the all year.

Mode of delivery: Blended

Aims • To develop a project collaborating with other school subjects like history, Literature, Foreign languages and art. • To build research skills while touching on core subjects To know about women artists and art styles all from different countries. • To learn to write little biographies and how to convert them into enjoyable multilingual stories performing, playing games and illustrating them. • To improve critical thinking and better bias recognition. To develop ICT competences, learning about software tools and computer programs. • To develop cultural awareness, critical thinking, teamwork and interaction among the students. • To provide an education in values, developing cross-curricular contents such as: Moral and civic education, Equality opportunities between sexes, gender and sexual education, Peace education, Environmental education,…

Contents:

Art movements in the history of art.

Knowing Female artists (through the student´s research. The technology teacher is going to show them how to look for reliable information on the Internet, how to check virtual libraries, etc). How to write an artist biography and how to present it. English vocabulary and grammar (the past simple tense: regular and irregular verbs. The past continuous,…) tips to act in a performance: “Who am I? Driving question(s):
