“Are we what we eat?

"How can we create a nutritious and healthy meal?” Cooperative techniques:

Students are divided into groups, their project and goal is to create a healthy meal where all the team members are involved.

First of all, they have to do some brainstorming in order to choose a recipe and the healthy ingredients they might need for their meal, then they have to divide the work and get assigned roles in the task. Next, they will cook it at home and record themselves to show everyone in class, they can also bring their creation to the classroom so everyone can taste it (obviously this would be perfect if there were no covid-19 restrictions).

Finally, the groups have to share their recipe and show it to everyone in class. In their final presentation they also need to include a reflection on their project covering the following aspects:

How did they get organised?

What was the most difficult step?

What would they do differently?

What can they improve for next time?

Did they learn any lessons/skills?

How will they use them in the future? The final presentation could be in different formats, students are given freedom in this las step. They could create another video, they could create a poster that illustrates the process or if they feel confident they can do an oral presentation in front of their peers.
